Why Custom Furniture Is Worth It

When you order custom furniture from us, our craftsmen attend to every detail, from start to finish. We design bespoke pieces according to your specific needs. You'll also have the opportunity to review and revise before construction begins.

The quality of our custom furniture is, we dare say, superior to what you may get in many showrooms. Each of our items is made from natural solid wood, and we exclusively use traditional, time-tested joinery and construction methods.

We devote careful attention to all custom furniture, guaranteeing that the final product meets all size and specification requirements, while also being built to our heirloom-quality standards.

Natural Solid Wood with Organic Finish

We are one of the few furniture makers that take "organic" seriously; we are not just riding the hype. For us, creating organic, solid wood furniture is not a fad but a core principle.

First, we source our wood from sustainably managed forests in the Appalachian area in Ohio. Second, we use our proprietary Organic Wood Finish to protect each piece. This wood finish is food-grade with no volatile organic compounds (VOCs). We drew inspiration from age-old ingredients that have worked for thousands of years for a similar purpose. It’s not that we reinvented the wheel, but we modernized the process and formulated a special blend that works wonderfully with natural hardwood.

Custom Furniture Process

The first step after you contact us about custom furniture is to arrange a design meeting—whether in person, by email, or over the phone, depending on your preference. We'll explain all the important details to ensure you get exactly what you’re looking for. If you wish to proceed, we will then help you determine the size, style, and materials that best suit your needs.

After you’ve decided on a design, you’ll receive copies of original sketches or animated designs to better understand in detail how your bespoke furniture will evolve. You’ll be notified once construction begins, and we’ll provide you with estimated completion dates.

You can expect to receive updates on the progress of your project. We’ll be happy to share photos of the furniture if requested. You can also track the progress through our client site, a website where you can log in and review images, documents, and other details of the project.

Do you have questions about our custom furniture? Our team is always here to help. Feel free to reach out to us directly anytime. You can also explore our Delivery & Shipping Options page for full details on order transit, lead times, and white-glove setup.

FAQs

How do you commission bespoke furniture?

Start with a design meeting–in person, by phone, or by email–where we discuss the specifics of the piece you’re envisioning, including dimensions and wood preferences. Once you approve the plan, we build your piece and keep you updated along the way. See our full commission process for details.

How long does custom furniture take to finish?

Most commissions take 4 to 6 weeks from design approval to completion, though more detailed or complex pieces can take longer depending on the specifics of the build.

How much does custom furniture cost?

Because every commissioned piece is built to your exact specifications–wood, dimensions, and design–the pricing varies by piece. Contact us for a quote based on your vision.

Is handmade custom furniture worth it?

Yes, especially for a statement piece or a design that fits your space exactly. Many homes have awkward corners or unused nooks, and a custom piece is often the best way to make the most of them. A lot of our custom builds are storage pieces, such as bookcases, hutches, and cabinetry, which are built with the specific details and proportions that match the interior’s style, both in homes and commercial spaces.

What are the best woods for custom furniture?

The wood species we mainly work with are cherry, walnut, hard maple, and white oak. These are excellent hardwoods for fine furniture.
