Visiting a Furniture Showroom: What to Expect at T.Y. Fine Furniture

TY Fine Furniture showroom

Across our two furniture showrooms in Columbus, we showcase the full scope of what we build and believe in. At the heart of our collection is our solid wood furniture, built by hand in our local workshop. Alongside our own work, we feature pieces from trusted partners who hold themselves to the same standard of craftsmanship, such as Stressless, American Leather, and Naturepedic.

When you step into a T.Y. Fine Furniture showroom, you won’t be rushed or steered toward a quick purchase. Fine furniture is an investment in your home, and choosing the right piece takes time, careful consideration, and a genuine sense of how the materials look and feel in real life. Through our showrooms, we aim to deliver a more personal and meaningful experience. Here is what you can expect when you come by for a visit.

Explore Without Pressure

First and foremost: we are craftspeople, not salespeople. When you walk into our showrooms, you are free to browse at your own pace or simply take inspiration and leave. We often have customers visit two or three times before deciding on a piece, and that is fine with us.

If you do have questions, our team is there to help. In Clintonville, you will find Arletta, and in Grandview Heights, you will find Mark. They can walk you through our wood species, customization options, and floor planning ideas to help you figure out how a specific piece looks and functions in your home. You might also run into Tarik, the owner, or craftsmen from our workshop, who can discuss the joinery, construction methods, and design choices behind our handcrafted furniture collection on the floor.

Think of our locations as working galleries. Everything on display is available to order, and our focus is entirely on helping you find what works for your home.

Experience Solid Wood Furniture in Person

An image can show you the visual details of furniture, but it cannot capture the feel, weight, and quality of natural hardwood. While online browsing works well for out-of-state clients, seeing our work in person remains the best way to evaluate it. Experiencing our solid wood furniture in person allows you to:

Compare four American hardwoods side by side. We work primarily in four American hardwoods: Cherry, Black Walnut, Hard Maple, and White Oak. Each species features its own color, grain pattern, and character. Seeing large-scale finished pieces side by side makes choosing the right wood much simpler.

If you are browsing online far from Columbus or outside Ohio, you can also order physical wood samples here. →

Feel the Organic Wood Finish…on wood. We use a zero-VOC organic finish, formulated by Tarik Yousef and his father, Dr. Ahmed Yousef, a microbiologist at Ohio State University. This finish preserves the natural warmth of wood and allows you to feel the subtle texture of the wood grain on your fingers–much unlike the glossy, plastic-like polyurethane that seals away the wood. Once people touch it, they usually immediately understand why we finish furniture the way we do.

Work Through Customizations with Our Team

We can adapt every piece of wood furniture we build to fit your space. We regularly adjust dimensions, wood species used on certain parts, internal shelving, and drawer configurations.

We also take on fully custom projects. Bring your room measurements, floor plans, or even napkin sketches to our showroom, and our team will guide you through what is possible for your space.

Test Chairs and Organic Mattresses

Comfort is deeply subjective, and it is impossible to evaluate through a photograph. A showroom visit provides the space to sit, lie down, and experience firsthand how different pieces support your body before making an investment.

Ergonomic Recliners & Seating. Test our selection of stress-relieving chairs, sofas, and recliners. Trying a Stressless or Fjords chair allows you to feel how their patented internal mechanisms automatically adjust to support your neck and back. You can also explore seating from American Leather and Gus Modern* to find the right balance of style and everyday comfort.

Organic & Handcrafted Mattresses. Lie down and compare the firmness levels of Naturepedic and Berkeley Ergonomics mattresses. Experiencing natural latex, organic wool, and pocketed coil support systems in person ensures you select the exact firmness your body needs.
