Our Organic Wood Finish
Developed with a microbiologist. Made from food-grade certified organic oils and natural waxes. The only finish of its kind.

The Story
Born from a Refusal to CompromiseMost wood finishes are so toxic they're hard to tolerate during application — and they rob the wood of its natural beauty. After years of frustration, founder Tarik Yousef enlisted his father, Dr. Ahmed Yousef, a microbiologist at The Ohio State University, to create something better. Together they developed a finish made entirely from food-grade certified organic oils and natural waxes — zero VOCs, no metallic driers, no thinners, no solvents. Even the beeswax is unbleached. "In my two decades as a woodworker, I've never used nor seen an oil finish that puts on such an exquisite polish to handmade items." |
Two Products, One Philosophy
Our organic finish comes in two forms — an oil blend for deep penetration and protection, and a hard wax balm for surface polish and scratch repair.
Oil BlendFrom $12.95 · 4 oz & 16 oz
100% organic oil blend that soaks deep into wood grain, hardening from the inside out. Creates a rich satin sheen while protecting the wood naturally. Perfect for initial finishing and annual rejuvenation. Shop Oil Blend |
Wood BalmFrom $8.99 · 2 oz & 8 oz
Organic hard wax blend for surface polishing and protection. Ideal for scratch repair, reviving worn surfaces, and adding an extra layer of luster. Parents and pet owners love this one. Shop Wood Balm |

Care & Maintenance
Built for Real LifeUnlike synthetic lacquers that chip, peel, and require professional refinishing, our organic finish is designed for real life. Scratches buff out in minutes. Water rings disappear with steel wool and a fresh coat. Dents can be steamed back into shape. Dust with a dry cloth for daily care. Apply a fresh coat once or twice a year — it takes 10 minutes. That's it. Full Care Guide |
We Won't Sell What We Wouldn't Use
Organic isn't a marketing term for us — it's a set of decisions we've made consistently since day one. Our wood comes from naturally fallen Ohio hardwoods. Our glues are milk-based blends tested for food contact. Our finish contains zero cancer-causing chemicals.
We build heirloom furniture this way because we want our kids to carry on our tradition with the same resources we had, and we want the same health for our customers that we want for our own families.

Shop Oil Blend Shop Wood BalmEvery piece in our Columbus, Ohio workshop is built by hand using 100% solid wood—never veneers, particle board, or MDF. We source our hardwoods from naturally fallen Ohio trees and regional sawmills that properly kiln-dry and cure their lumber, ensuring your furniture will last for generations.
We developed our signature finish using food-grade oils and waxes with zero VOC emissions. Unlike conventional lacquers and stains that off-gas harmful chemicals, our organic finish is safe for your family and easy to maintain. This makes our furniture ideal for bedrooms, nurseries, and homes where air quality matters.
Founded in 2004, T.Y. Fine Furniture combines old-world craftsmanship with modern precision. Our founder, Tarik Yousef, brings an engineering background from Honda to furniture design—every joint is calculated for strength, every detail considered for longevity. We use traditional mortise and tenon joinery reinforced with stainless steel dowels, not cheap metal brackets or cam locks.
Mass-produced furniture is designed to be replaced. Ours is designed to be inherited. Bed slats bolt in rather than drop in, eliminating squeaks. Drawer slides are soft-close. Joints are precisely cut using time-tested techniques. When something is built this well, it only gets better with age.
Because every piece is built in our Columbus workshop, we can accommodate custom dimensions, wood species, and design modifications. Need a bed 2 inches shorter or a dresser sized for an awkward space? We build to your specifications. Contact us to discuss your project.
Nothing compares to seeing and touching solid wood furniture in person. Visit our Columbus showroom to experience the quality firsthand, explore wood samples, and work with our team on customizations. Can't visit? We offer nationwide shipping with white-glove delivery available.
