Ekornes takes furniture design seriously.
Stressless chairs come to fruition through a meticulous design process. Each product must pass the rigorous approval of a council, guaranteeing that any design that makes its way to market lives up to the Stressless standard of comfort, function, and aesthetics.
The journey from concept to creation is thorough. Starting from an initial pool of 500 design ideas, the council only considers 100 to 200 of these for further review. Then, only one to ten designs advance to prototype development, after a series of reviews and feedback from the council. Prototype development itself may take up to four years.

Protecting the environment is a core principle at T.Y. Fine Furniture. So, it is really important to us to carry brands that share similar values. We‘re delighted to share that Stressless also demonstrates a strong commitment to the environment by reusing materials and minimizing waste.
For example, the excess wood chips from the beech wood are used to produce heat in Stressless' facilities. Scrap leathers are sold to other companies to be used in creating other products. While the company does use leather, they adhere to the Five Freedoms recommendations on animal welfare set by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
